A Modern Myth

Xian's POV

I sat on the couch after Valkyrie left. Ethan sat next to me. He was still worried about me. So was I. I could feel another panic attack coming, but it never came. But I did however learn what my new power was.

I discovered that if I consentrated hard, I could see things, like visions of the future. Like the way I had seen Oni in the mirror. When I looked at my reflection it was easier to see things, but if I concentrated hard enough I could see without looking into the mirror. I still dont know if what I am seeing is the past, present or future. I havn't figured it out yet. I hadn't got a clear enough understanding on each picture I seen.

I walked from the couch to the bathroom. I turned on the hot water and stripped of my clothes. I got in and the water was very hot but it felt amazing on my skin. After my shower I called Valkyrie to tell her that the mental attack stage had passed and that we should have a meeting about what we are going to do.

Valkyrie agreed with me and she told me to take Ethan with too, he was now a part of this, and we would be going tonight.

~Valkyrie's POV~

As I waited for the Dartan's to arrive I listened to Rayna's story about Lian and how he tried to attack her. For some reason this didn't really surprise me. I always thought there was something about him that we couldn't trust. Now if only I could have seen that with Oni. Tryst was here with her, his arm wrapped around her waist protectively as she told me everything. I waited until after her tale to voice my questions aloud.

"You said he had blood on his mouth when he got here, did he attack someone else?" I asked both of them hoping for an answer.

"Mase, he attacked Mase." Tryst told both of us.

"Is he badly injured?"

"He'll live." Tryst said solemnly. I nodded my head and sighed. Things were getting more complicated. Or at least that was the way it seemed. Maybe this was nothing compared to what was about to happen.

I then told them about Xian and his not so human friend Ace. They listened closely as I explained Xian's new power and about Ace's original power. They didn't interrupt me as I told them everything, which I was glad for, I didn't want to waste anytime trying to explain everything in great detail.

"So if Aurora hadn't left then we would have three Dartans which would help us out?" Kynaree asked who had joined us in the living room.

"That's right. Kynaree are you positive that you can't get help from your people? We may need a little faerie power to help us out with this." I said. She was shaking her head before I could even finish.

"The portal is closed and I don't know where the other ones are and I don't think Cecil is going to open up the faerie portal anytime soon." She explained. A smile grew on my face and Kynaree seemed worried wondering what my mind was conjuring up.

"He wouldn't open it up for us, but he would open it up for you. Come on Kynaree use his feelings to our benefits!" I continued to smile.

"That's mean." Was how she replied. I frowned stupid overly nice faerie. She just didn't have it in her to manipulate people like I could. Then again manipulating people was sometimes how one had to rule in a royal family. It was probably in my genes to be alright with controlling people to my will.

"Kynaree would you rather be nice and let a lot of people die or would you rather be mean for about oh a minute and save a bunch of lives?" I asked her using my years of knowledge against her.

She hesitated at the question trying to figure out the right answer. She didn't have a chance to respond as my cell phone rang. It was Layla.

"Yes?" I asked into the phone.

" The Dartans are here. They say that you are expecting them." She quickly told me.

"Two of them both male?" I asked making sure that they were the correct Dartans.

"Yup one has darker hair the other has a blondish color." Layla explained.

"That's them let em through." I confirmed that it was safe for them to come through the perimeter of vampire guards. They didn't bother to knock as they knew that we were expecting them. I still wish they would have knocked though. Did no one have manners in this world anymore?

"Do you have enough security around this place?" Xian asked.

"Actually I would feel better if we had more, but we'll live. Especially after some of the events that have happened I'm glad I called in my guard." I smirked.

"Why what's happened?" Ace asked.

I began to fill them in on everything that has happened lately. Ace's face stayed calm throughout the whole thing but Xian's face held many emotions. I also then thought it best to tell everyone about the last time something similar to this had happened.

~<>~Theo's POV~<>~

I was wandering the streets for the right pawn shop that I knew would lead me to the department of Mystical Creatures. I had to file a complaint, some guy thought it was funny to faerie-nap me and steal my blood. I guess I was lucky there was some rebel working for them, he helped me escape. Even though I was pretty sure I could've gotten out myself I just needed the right time.

I spotted the pawn shop and the sign said closed so I let myself in. I ran my hand through my bright green hair that flung into the same spiky style when I slid my hand out of it. I quickly used my tongue to check my teeth for any sign of food and went in search of anyone in the shop.

It didn't take long for someone to find me and greet me by name. I must have been on one of their random lists. In my opinion this organization was way too noisy and ought to stay out of mystical creatures business. It was only useful in times when a mystical creature got out of control and that didn't happen very often.

"So, Theo what do you have to complain about today?" an older man asked me. He looked slightly amused and must have heard about my random complaints to other co-workers in other states and countries. They kept a file of every mystical creature they met.

"Well, you see one night I was just minding my own business y'know walking down the street and then out of nowhere these people pluck me into a van. Okay, then I wake up in this warehouse and by then I was like 'what the hell?' right? So..."

"Do you remember what these people looked like?" he asked and started scribbling down the information I gave him.

"It was dark and I was kind of out of it, but I'm positive that they took my blood-"

"How did you escape?" he interrupted.

"Lemme get to it, man" I waved off his question. "Alright I was hanging there for a bit and then this guy, he went and told me I should leave before they get back. He didn't need to tell me twice. He was weird and I didn't ask his name I just found my way out"

"And is there anymore you'd like to add?" he mumbled still writing stuff down.

"Um, no not really I just thought that you guys might want to know" I said and got up to leave.

"Hold on there, you're going to need to talk to someone already on a similar case, by the sounds of it they're connected" I let out a frustrated sigh. He gave me the address and phone number just in case he wasn't home. I thought about letting it go but I found some good in me and realized that they should probably catch the psycho before he captured anyone else.

I didn't want to stay in this town long so right after I left the department I followed the old guy's directions. I slid my ring off my finger and transformed into a faerie so I could make my way there faster. It was easy to stay out of the human eye because most of them didn't pay attention and were too busy texting on their cell phones or worrying about everything little thing.

When I arrived at the house it was smaller then I expected and the car parked in the driveway was battered. As I walked up the porch steps I heard insane laughter coming from the inside, it was a girl's high-pitched laughter. I feared I was interrupting something but I knocked on the door anyways. It only took three knocks and a guy answered, he looked a little younger then me.

"Hey" I said and looked over his head at the house behind him. The laughter was coming from a purple haired girl who was laying on the floor giggling. The place smelt of coffee and old pizza. When my gaze turned back to the guy his eyes were narrowed and for some reason he looked very familiar. "I need to talk to you real quick, I'm Theo" I held out my hand trying to be all gentlemanly.

"Sure" he replied and moved out of the way to let me in. The girl had regained herself and was sitting on the couch. She was staring at me with a weird look in her bright purple eyes, another faerie, this was definitely the place. I smiled back at her and she looked down.

"So-" I before I could start, his phone started to buzz and he pressed a button and put the phone up to his ear.

"Yeah.... yeah... he's here already" for some reason before he said a word I knew he would have a British accent.

"Do I know you?" I asked after he hung up.

He shook his head, "No, so how about you tell me the story"

"How about you tell me your name first" I bargained.

"Kynaree!" the girl who was laughing hysterically moments before answered. I grinned at her.

"Cecil" he finally said and when I looked at him again his expression was even more irritated. I snorted and then realized he was serious, I mean who would name their child Cecil? After I was sure I wouldn't burst into laughter if I opened my mouth I told him what I told the old guy and Cecil stayed quiet instead of asking questions.

"Sounds like Dr. Dartan to me" Kynaree mumbled when I was done. He nodded and looked at me waiting for me to say something. He went and sat on the couch next to Kynaree. She didn't seem to notice when he put his arm around her shoulders she just continued staring at me creepily. The look Cecil was giving me said 'Get out' instead I took it as a challenge.

"Alright, so just in case they come back to take me again, I should stay here right?" I asked trying to look as innocent as possible.

Kynaree nodded, "Yeah, for his safety right?" she asked brightly turning to Cecil for the first time since I got here. Cecil shrugged and unwillingly agreed.

-<>-Xian's POV-<>-

I listened to Valkyrie's story. She was telling us about what had happened before, something that was similar to this.

When she was finished she said that we should probably stay there until all of this was over. She said it would be best to be in one place in case something happens. I think she also wanted to keep an eye on us to make sure we didn't end up stabbing her in the back.

She lead us to the staircase that was going down. She led us to a large room that was in the level below. It was not the basement, but it was underground. The basement was the very bottom level. The room was nice and she showed us the bathroom that was down the hall, and the two beds that we could sleep in. I thanked her and she started up the stairs.

"Uh." she began" Do you eat? I mean Human food? If you do then just help yourself to whatever you can find. I think Trudie went shopping not to long ago. I gave up trying to shop for human food it just doesn't work." She shook her head.

"Yes we eat human food." I said with a chuckle. She smiled, a kind smile, that was sincere, but she looked nervous and unsure as well. She wasn't sure this was going to work. But I felt as if it were. Then again we were programed to kill on another, maybe she was right to feel uneasy.

To make it easy on them I told Ethan that we would try to stay out of their way as much as possible.

Ethan left early in the morning and retrieved some essentials. Tooth brush and paste, clothes, and others.

I ventured up to the next level and made my way to the kitchen. I needed to eat, but was afraid to get in someones way. I grabbed a few Pop-Tarts and headed back down stairs. But then I heard,

"Where do you think your going with MY Pop-tarts!" The little purple haired faerie yelled at me. There was a small smile on her face as she yelled so I couldn't tell if she was serious or not.

"Oh, I am very sorry, I didn't know that they were yours. Here." I apologized and put the small silvery packages of pop-tarts in her arms.

"I am just kidding. Jeez, Dartans, no sense of humor." She said, giggling a little bit.

"Oh, well is it okay if we have them? I'm still not exactly sure what is off limits in this house."

"Yeah whatever, I just wanted to see how you would react. It was pretty funny by the way." She walked into the living room and grabbed a pillow from the couch placed it in the corner and sat on it, she pulled on her eyelid and made the 'pop' sound. She did that for several minutes. I realized that I was staring at her. She was to weird to not look at. She was amusing herself by pulling on her eyelids. I turned and went back to the room.

"Here," I threw the blueberry pop-tart at Ethan.

"Finally! I'm starving over here."He said with a chuckle. "So any coffins up there?" He said while he devoured the pop tart.

"No, they are normal you know. They aren't the freaks that you think they are."

"I never said they were freaks I just wanted to know if there were any coffins."

That night, I went to fall asleep but I heard a low growl that came from outside the window that was at the top of the ceiling, one of those basement windows. I heard the growl again and when I looked I saw a shadow from the moons light move across the window.

I crept out of the bed and went upstairs to the living room. I heard the growl again from the window by the fireplace. I saw it go around the side of the house. I stared out the window. I saw a figure crouched down sniffing the air and growling.

It looked at the window and howled. The glow from the eyes were menacing. When it was finished howling, it ran back into the woods.

I went back to bed, but couldn't sleep very good. I was paranoid now. I couldn't stop staring at the window.

~Valkyrie's POV~

When I awoke that morning I realized that it was going to be a long day. I was already in a bad mood that morning and I figured it was from to many different smells hitting me at once. My house now smelled like an experimental laboratory from all the different species in my house. Thankful that it was the weekend I put my ear buds in that were to my ipod and cranked up the volume as I went downstairs.

I went into the living room and sat on the couch, my head against the arm rest and my feet curled up on the couch I closed my eyes and concentrated on the music that was pounding in my ears. Even with the Ipod blaring I could still hear everything around me. A disadvantage of being a vampire, way to good of hearing.

I felt arms slide around me and the familiar scent of Nathan hit me before I even opened my eyes to confirm that it was him. "Already in a bad mood today?" He asked taking out one of my ear buds, even though he knew I could hear him with them in.

"Yes. It's just one of those days. I can smell the war coming it's closer, probably closer than we expected it but it also doesn't help that I am officially using all my restraint that I built up over the years to make sure I don't attack what used to be our most hated enemies. " I told him.

"It'll all be over soon." Nathan assured me. He leaned forward and I knew what he wanted. Happily I met his lips letting him make me feel better about anything that could possibly be wrong. Lately everything had been wrong.

"Ahh get a room." Rayna joked as she entered the room. I smiled at her as she sat down on the couch next to us.

"Well Rayna since it is called the living room so technically we did get a room." I grinned.

"Yea if you say so." She rolled her eyes sarcastically. I was already starting to get in a better mood. Kynaree was the next one to come bounding down the stairs and it wasn't long until she started chattering away about the Faerie that she had met the other day. Secretly I put my headphones back in my ears as I tried to drown Kynaree out I could only take so much hyped up faerie energy at a time. The loud music didn't drown her out completely but it did dampen her a bit which helped.

Even though the day seemed like it would be a disaster it turned out to be okay the Dartans stayed out of my way and I stayed out of theirs knowing that if they were going to be living here we needed space. Only I felt like I needed a lot more than space. I wanted everything to go back to normal, I wanted the Dartans and wolves to be my only enemies. I wanted my spacious house to smell only of my own kind.

I knew it was being selfish but at the moment I didn't care.

-><- Dr. D's POV -><-

The time was coming. Closer and closer I could sense that it would be soon. I knew what I wanted and needed for this plan to become a reality.

I had recovered blood from the many mythical creatures. I have used the final faerie blood to complete it.

My new weapon was glorious. He was built to be great as I intended. He was fast, smart, and his only opinion on anything was to kill all mythical creatures.

He was big with muscle, and he had genetically enhanced 'faerie' wings. He was quick as the Dartan and vampires, and his muzzle from the wolves were equiped with a mix of vampire and wolf teeth. He was hidious, but beautiiful all at the same time.

I call him "JXYL23897231nn001" or for short Jaxyl.

"Jaxyl, come here." He came over and sat on the ground infront of me.

"Yes, Dr. Dartan." He said obediantly.

"Good, now you know what you are to do. You know the plan and you know the other plans, A,B, and C. What is plan A?"

"Plan A, capture Valkyrie, Xian, Ethan, Rayna, Kynaree, Tryst, Nathan and Trudie and bring them to you." He said, knowing every word of what I had told him earlier.

"Plan B?"

"If Plan A fails, I am to kill all Vampires, Faeries, Werewolves, and the Dartans. Go to the house of Valkyrie, Vampire Royalty, and kill them all." Perfection.

"Plan C?"

"Plan C is, if Plan A fails, than Plan B is to be completed, even if it takes my own life." He said, he said it almost sadly, as if he knew that he was to lose his life anyway.

"Hey!, I said dont get attached to ths world. You wont be needed after this. Do you understand."

"I understand Dr. Dartan." He said.

~Trudie's POV~

I went downstairs after taking a shower and saw everybody was home. They were spread out through the Living Room. Valkyrie, Nathen, and Rayna were on the couch, Kynaree and Tryst were on the chairs surounding it. When I walked in, everybody looked at me.

"Whats wrong with you? You've never seen anyone once they just got out of the shower? I know my hairs wet and its all over the place. Get over it." I said and walked over to the chair by Kynaree.

Then everyone looked away and it was silent until finally Kynaree spoke up. "I like your hair like that," she said forcing herself not to laugh. "It makes you look like a clown." I about wanted to jump on her and kill her, but I refrained myself so that I didn't make a seen and just left without saying anything. I went to the Kitchen to get some lunch. I figured I had gotten myself some steak at the store a couple months ago, it was in the freezer and I decided to have that.

I ate my steak in peace away from everyone. In my room. When I was done, I read some more. This month I was in a Stephen King phase. I was almost done with his books and would probably move on to Jodi Picoult(stww) and that would probably last a little longer, saying as in she has like a million books. A lot more than Stephen King. When I finished the book I was reading, Cell, I thought I might go downstairs and see if anything changed. I haven't heard anything, not even a door opening or closing.

When i got downstairs, nobody was down there. So I decided I would take the T.V. and watch Wheel of Fortune. I don't get to watch it a lot when everybodys around so I haven't seen it in a while.

I heard noises in the Kitchen. I figured it wouldn't kill me to go see who was up, so when my show hit commercials I went into the Kitchen and found two weird looking guys looking back at me. I just stood in place and stared at them while they did the same.

"Valkyrie told me everyone was out." Blue shirt said.

"I was in my room for a few hours." I said back.

"Well we will get out of your way. We didn't know anyone was home." Orange shirt said.

"No thats ok I was just going upstairs to read again. My names Trudie." I said reaching out my hand so they could shake it.

"Xian," Blue shirt said.

"Ethen, but people call me Ace." Orange shirt said.

"Nice to meet you both." I said.

"Same." They said at the same time.

I walked out of the room and shut the T.V. off then went upstairs. I really wanted to leave the house, but nobody else was home to go with me and I sure as hell wasn't going alone.

I had one more Stephen King book to read so I figured I could finish it that day, then someone would have to go with me to the library to get more. A few hours went by and I was almost done with my last book when my phone rang. They told me who they were and started asking me these Questions about why I haven't killed Valkyrie yet. I lied and told them I needed more time and they said they couldn't give me time. They told me to meet them at the local mall and if I didn't they would kill me. They wanted to ask me Questions. I don't know what got over me. If it was the idea of them threatening to kill me or what but I agreed and then i went downstairs and for some reason felt compeled to tell Xian and Ace my story.

When i was done i asked them if they would go with me. and if i didn't get back to them within 30 minutes, to go looking for me. They new the war was coming and this was not good, so even though they didn't want to spend the day saving my ass, they agreed.

~Valkyrie's POV~

Nathan and I were on our way back from a hunting trip making sure we were as strong as possible before this war came when I felt it. Something wasn't right, something was different. Everything seemed quieter than before as we drove back home. It seemed liked time had stopped and we were the only ones moving.

I stepped on the gas pedal harder pushing my car to go as fast as it could and we got back to the house in record time. I threw my phone at Nathan which he gracefully caught and told him to start calling in the troops. I looked around the garage, everyone's cars were gone.

"Dammit." I mumbled to myself. I took out my other cell phone and dialed Rayna's number.

"Hello?" She answered.

"I need you here now. It's starting, bring all of your pack that can fight." I told her simply and then hung up. The next number I dialed was Cecils. "Where's Kynaree?" I asked him almost to quickly for him to understand.

"With me why?" He asked cautiously. From the sound of his voice I figured he already knew what was starting to happen.

"Grab whatever weapons you have and get over here. This war is starting sooner than we thought."

"Do you think-" Okay maybe he didn't know what was going on.

"Just get over here Cecil!" I yelled at him through the phone before hanging up. I took a moment to listen to Nathan who told me that our people were coming as fast as they could and I nodded thankfully at him. I still had to make two more phone calls.

The Dartan's number was the next one I called and they said they would be here asap. I asked them if they knew anything about where Trudie was and they told me that she had gotten a ride with them to the local mall.

"Well is she with you?" I asked angrily.

"No she said if she isn't back in 30 minutes then we are to go looking for her." Ace told me. I didn't say anything I just slammed the phone shut, which resulted in it almost breaking, and yelled for Layla. Soon her and two other guards were by my side.

"Yes Valkyrie?" She asked worried as she saw the look on my face. Normally I wasn't good at angry expressions but lately I must have been getting better at them for they seemed to finally have some effect on people.

"Go to the mall locate Trudie and get back here as fast as you can." I ordered them to go and they followed my orders without hesitation. A car pulled into the driveway and I recognized it as Rayna's which was soon followed by a really big truck. Rayna, Tryst, and Ralph got out of Rayna's car. Then out of the other was Rem and Wyatt and Mase.

"I thought you said he was injured?" I asked Tryst pointing at Mase.

"He was. Vampires aren't the only ones who heal fast around here." He smiled. I nodded and headed upstairs to my room where I kept most of my weapons. I changed into a black tank top, and put my hair up into a ponytail. Grabbing my weapons belt I double checked everything to make sure it was all there. Two silver daggers, two silver throwing knives and a gun which was rarely used, after that was done I headed downstairs.

Everyone had gathered in the living room like normal and I was glad to see that Cecil and Kynaree were already here along with the new faerie that I hadn't met yet. Wyatt looked at the weapons on my belt and snorted.

"You really think those are going to do any damage?" He snorted again.

"Well the fact that they are magically welded so that they can pierce any type of skin and as they hit the skin they send a shock through them normally stunning them for a few seconds I think they'll do quite a bit of damage." I told him smirking. His face made an "Oh" shape which made my smile bigger.

~<>~Kynaree's POV~<>~

I was trying to act inconspicuous as I randomly stole glances at Theo. I didn't want to seem like some freak, even though even I knew I was acting like one. Really though, who could ignore his bright green eyes or his pearly white smile? His hair was even beautiful, the way he could run his hands through it and it still would fling into the same spot.

I was so busy thinking about how great Theo looked that I jumped when Cecil's phone started buzzing. Cecil was sitting to the right of me on the couch and Theo was on my left. Cecil picked up the phone and before he could greet whoever it was I heard a muffled "Where's Kynaree?" it sounded like Valkyrie but I couldn't be sure.

It was a short conversation and when he was done he quickly explained to Theo and I that the war was being. Cecil grabbed all his weapons from various hiding spots I never would have guessed while Theo asked me questions about the war and what was going on. I told him all I could and marveled at his incredible voice. Theo and I followed Cecil to his car soon after and he spun out of the driveway. I have to say I was definitely scared, he had never driven this fast before with me in here.

We made it to Valkyrie's house in no time due to his insane driving and I started to tell Theo about how cool Valkyrie was when she was being nice. "So, lemme get this straight, you live with werewolves, vampires, Dartans, and some weirdo ghost seeing human?" he asked when I was done explaining about the people I lived with. We were in the living room waiting for Valkyrie to come downstairs.

"Yeah, and Trudie's not a weirdo. She's just a freak" I said and looked around the room and realized Trudie wasn't even there. Neither were the Dartans. When Valkyrie was done bragging about her knife I blurted "Where's Trudie and the Dartans?"

Valkyrie told me that her guards went to go rescue her from the mall and then everyone headed out except Cecil, Theo and me. Cecil was busy calling up MMC for extra backup. He got off the phone and told us that his dad was already fighting and had everything set up. "I'm heading off now" he said and handed me a light purple cell phone "Here, call me if anything goes wrong, alright?"

"Okee-dokee, thanks" I answered. I squeezed him and added "Don't die okay?"

"Yeah, yeah" he muttered and hugged me back.

Theo came up behind him and patted him hard on the back "Don't worry Kynaree I'll take care of him" I couldn't see Cecil's face but I'm sure he wasn't terribly excited about that. He let go of me and started for the door. I waved good-bye at Theo and told him not to die either and he waved back with one of his pearly white grins on his face. I'd only known him for about two days and I already learned to love his smile.

I sat there in the silence for a while, and for once it didn't bother me that much. After a little bit I realized why, I was worrying, yes me, Kynaree, was actually worrying. What if something happened to Theo or Cecil, or all my other new friends? I went over the names in my head again and again thinking of the last words I'd said to them.

Finally I tried to call Valkyrie to see how everyone was doing, there wasn't an answer, I gulped. Next I tried to call Cecil and it went straight to his voicemail, which may I add was very boring. I started to panic after that and instantly curled up into the fetal position and laid on my side on the couch.

I became so paranoid that by the time someone came through the front door I was sure it was Dr. Dartan coming to finish me off. I shrieked with joy when I found out it was Trudie, Xian and Ethan. "Trudie! Trudie!" I yelled and clung onto her. "Do you know if everyone else is okay?"

"I know just as much as you" she said back. Xian and Ethan left right away to join the battle. Even though I didn't know about the others I still felt better knowing at least one of my friends was fine.

~*~ Rayna's POV ~*~


My phone went off and I recognized it as Valkyrie's ringtone. I sighed and grabbed the phone off of the end table.

"Hello?" I answered

Valkerie's voice was jabbering on the other end of the phone all I got was that she wanted me and the pack over there now, I flipped the phone shut and got out of bed.

"So I take it we gotta leave?" Tryst asked

"Yea, Valkyrie sounded pretty serious too so we better get a move on" I picked his shirt off the floor and threw it at him.

"Ruin my fun" he started mumbling, I rolled my eyes and headed downstairs to get my car started.

We raced over to my house and picked up my dad, Wyatt and Mase piled up in Rems truck and they followed us there.

"So whats going on?" I asked as Valkyrie walked up to us. "The war is starting I can feel it, I just hope were not too late." she was all over the place, litteraly one moment she was talking with us the next she was flying up the stairs and last she was explaining her weapons to Wyatt.

I looked around the empty house, "Where is everyone?"

"Kynaree and Cecil are on their way, same thing with Trudie and the Dartans" she explained

I nodded and waited with her for a moment. "So where is this thing taking place then?" Wyatt asked eager to get this show on the road.

"In the woods not that far from here, so expect to see a lot of guards around" she said

Wyatt smirked "Yea I noticed that on the way in this place looks like it's on lockdown from all the guards."

Ralph strolled into the living room and took a quick look around. "We should head out, the fights not going to wait for us so we need to go to it." He met each of our eyes, the will to protect was rising from deep within him, he was ready to fight.

I couldn't help but feel a bit jelous at my dads leadership skills, I wasn't ready for this not like he was. My dad could sense my nervousness he came over to me and held my head in his hands.

"Your more ready for this than you think" He told me I smiled at him "you're talking about the war... I know I'm ready for it but I'm not ready to become the Alpha I don't think I'll ever be ready for that, I can't live up to your expectations." He stared intensly at me for a moment then looked at Tryst who oddly shook his head to something.

"Right now it doesn't matter, your my daughter and that's all I expect you to be." He kissed me on the forehead then pulled away.

Cecil and Kynaree showed up with a green haired dude who said his name was Theo moments later, thats when Cecil got word that his dad was already down at the fighting grounds.

Ralph, Wyatt and Mase left with him and Theo in one direction while Tryst, Rem, Valkyrie, a bunch of her guards and I went in another direction we ended up in the same area as the others along with all the other vampires who were ready to fight.

~Valkyrie's POV~

With everyone heading into the forest I felt like this was more of a stroll than a march off to our plausible deaths. Nathan walked beside me and my heart lurched as I looked at him. I couldn't imagine my life without him now. My once greatest threat to the throne was now the person I loved most in my life. Strange how fate worked out that way.

Without warning the war began. Out of nowhere Dartans and other weird experiments launched themselves at us. It was everything war was supposed to be. Complete and total chaos. I didn't have much time to grab the daggers out of their sheaths but I manage to get them out and stab them into the heart of the closest one. With the first kill on my hands I frowned in disgust.

I didn't know what was happening anymore I just attacked what I could and made sure that I wasn't attacking my own people. My phone began to ring and I cursed. No way was I about to answer it now and from the sound of the ring tone I knew it was Kynaree. Hopefully they weren't in danger but I wasn't about to find out now. The phone's ringing ended just as I ripped the head off of a human-Faerie hybrid.

Out of nowhere the ugliest looking creature came into view and now I knew why Dr. D had needed all of our blood. It was to make that disgusting looking creature and next to him was Oni who was grinning wickedly at the site of everything. I wanted him dead. There was nothing else on my mind but killing him. When the time came though would I really be able to kill my once closest friend?

Oni looked my way and I saw a flash of regret in his eyes but when Nathan came to stand by me his regret turned into pure rage. Oni ran as fast as he could with his hand outstretched aiming for my neck. Nathan leaped in front of me though and Oni's hand ran along Nathan's stomach leaving deep gashes.

Realizing that he missed his one shot at Nathan, Oni ran past me and back to where he was before. Anger flared up in me and without even thinking it through I took one of the daggers at my side and flung it him as hard as I possibly could with my vampire strength.

The dagger hit him in the leg and I saw him flinch from the shock that went through his body. Before I could reach him though the effects from the dagger wore off and he was out of sight.

"You should have sided with me Valkyrie. I could have given you more power than you could have dreamed of. " Oni yelled at me. I looked around and saw him on the branch of a sturdy tree.

"Go to hell Oni, You have no power with Dr.Dartan your just his pawn nothing more. You're just a puppet and as soon as he's done with you, he'll kill you just like every power hungry leader that has tried to take over the world." I yelled back at him.

"We'll see about that." Oni chuckled. In the distance I saw a man who could only be Dr.Dartan. He was concentrating on something that I couldn't see and I noticed the mutant hybrid sneaking up behind him. I watched in horror as the mutant literally devoured Dr.D.

~Trudie's POV~

I knew the war was going on and I knew my closest friends were fighting in it. I don't really know what to call them, housemates? I guess you really could call them friends saying as they are out risking their lives to save mine. Unless they are selfish and the only reason they are in the war is to save themselves. But if they were only in the war to save themselves then they would probably have me fighting to help save them even if they knew I would die. On that note they must be my friends cause they were (1) letting me stay there, even though it was partially their fault that mine was ruined (2) they were fighting this war to help save my life, even though they are technically saving their own also, and they could just have me not fighting because they want me to believe they are my friend so in the future they can use my power and hold this as blackmail (3) they were nice to me, and I've never ever really had anybody who was nice to me. So they must be my friends.

Kynaree and I were back at the house staying as possibly far away from the war as possible, but I couldn't help but wonder "Hey Kynaree?" I asked like a question to make sure she was still there and was going to listen to me.

"Yeah?" She questioned me.

"I was just thinking..." well I was thinking a lot but I wasn't gonna mention everything. "I was wondering if since all the vampires are out fighting the war ..." I paused and she sensed this was either gonna be a weird question or a questionable statement. "Are we even safe here?" I asked not wanting to totally freak her out but I just wanted to make myself feel better.

"Well we have no reason not to me safe, because all the enemies are at the war, in the woods also.” She sounded so calm.

“But we have nobody guarding us.”

“But we have nobody searching for us.”

“Well, you have nobody searching for you.”

“You have nobody searching for you Trudie.”

“But I do. What if whoever threatened to rape me is not happy with me at all for not killing Valkyrie? What if he comes after me for not killing her so they couldn’t kill Nathan and now they are there fighting at the war and they know they don’t stand a chance?”

“They aren’t after you Trudie. I’m sure they have forgotten all about you by now. Besides even if they do come, you and I together, we can take ‘em.” She said trying to sound confident but I knew she wasn’t. She was basically really trying to stop this conversation.

“I’m sure we could.” I said sarcastically/disappointed in her lack of interest to keep me alive.

“Anyways, do you want to play monopoly?” She changed the subject.

“Sure. Is it ok if we watch T.V. while we play?”

“Yeah sure I don’t care.” She said relived we weren’t talking about the war anymore.

I turned on the T.V. and Wheel of Fortune was on. “Yay!” I practically screamed.

“What?” Kynaree looked up from putting monopoly together and asked.

“Wheel of Fortune is on.”

“Oh, cool. Hey did you know that monopoly was created during the Great Depression. We the Great Depression for the humans anyway?”

“Uh. No”

“Well it did.”

--Xian's POV--

Ethan ran next to me as we went to the forest. The vamps got a head start so we were coming in when everything had already started.

For now it looked like we were winning. But the bad Dartans kept coming and coming. An Endless Army.

My body went into hyper mode when I got my hands on one of those demented looking half breeds.

I quickly killed the first and moved on to the third, fifth, tenth, twentieth, they werent stopping. They kept coming. I fought harder.

I heard a weird ringing sound, and I thought it was a phone, but that past. I just thought that it was just another side affect from my mental breakdown a few ago.

I made my way through the crowd of battling creatures. It hit me then. Not somthing literly, but in my mind it struck. Everything around me disappeared.

I felt only the air around me and nothing else. I was suddenly whisped through time in my mind. I felt the aging affect through me. I was going to after the battle, a few hours after.

Bodies everywhere, the smell of a curious blend of blood. I saw the same trees, and the same stumps. I also saw Aurora. She was coming into view from behind the trees.

Addy was behind her. Everything was silent and still except them coming towards us. Us, there was someone else there. Ace. He was behind me, but now moving infront of me. Protecting me? From what? It was Aurora and Addy. Why would he protect me from them?

I sat there silently, a low hiss came from Aurora, and soft growl from Ethan. He was getting weird. He was forcing me back, his hand on my chest, pushing me away from Aurora and Addy. Aurora was walking faster, she walked so fast that it was a blur. S/he was suddnty infront of Ace and clawing for his throat.

Addy jumped in and grabbed at Aurora's wrists. Ethan grabbed onto Aurora's arm and whipped her off the ground into a tree trunk. She leaped off the trunk with the momentum of the impact and landed infront of us with grace and beauty. Oh how I have missed her.

The next events happened so quickly I dont remember which was first. Ethan grabbed Aurora's throat, Aurora gasped, Addy screamed and I yelled NO!. Before I could do anything, Aurora was dead.

I leaped at Ethan, but was thrusted the other way, getting pushed back into the present. Ethan had knocked me out of the way of one of the Dartans. I was whooshed back into the present so fast I was vertigo and disoriented. I quickly got back to me feet and gave a quick glance at Ethan with a look that said "Ill tell you later."

Ethan and I continued to fight when my vision was over. But it never fully sank in that my best friend is going to kill the love of my life. What was I going to do?

I couldnt just talk to Ethan, that would cause a weird rambling affect of time that would change what is to come. Aurora would kill Ethan. I didnt want either of them dead. But I dont think I would be willing to lose Ethan.

I never thought I would have needed to talk to him that much. But over the course of time he has grown on me.

I knew what I was supposed to do. As I was killing Dartan's left and right, I was thinking about this. And the fact that I had to let Aurora die.

If I changed it, then Ethan would die. If I tried to change it so that neither would die, than Addy would die, time would compensate for a death not taking place. I for sureley didnt want Addy to die.

Aurora or Ethan? I couldnt decide. I loved Aurora, at least I thought I did. Sure I would miss her, but she left me here to die. She left without saying goodbye. A note. That was what I had to remember her by if I died.

Ethan was here for me. He kept me alive through the times that I thought I couldnt survive without Aurora. Ethan was my friend. Aurora betrayed me. And she was out to kill Ethan.

I knew what I had to let happen. Aurora would die. But I couldnt tell Ethan. He would try to stop it for me, and then he would end up dieing.

I didnt want that. I would have to sit there, seeing exactly what I saw in the vision and have to watch, I was not looking forward to it.

I killed more than sixty before I saw Dr. Dartan. He looked like he did before, but thrown in a blender and glued back together.

I saw him get devoured by a hidious beast of a creature. I ran to the woods where this was taking place, I saw Valkyrie close by.

The last thing I saw was Oni lunging toward the beast, but I left to defeat the last few Dartans that were right now attacking some of the wolves and Vamps. Dr. Dartan was dead.

Before long most of the Dartans were killed, just a few being captured for questioning and torture possibly, I didnt know what they had planned.

I saw a few Dartans retreat. I was curious about them but didnt go after them. I would wait and follow there scent and track them down with Ethan. Right now I was exhausted. The war was over.

~*~ Rayna's POV ~*~


There were creatures all around us fighting. I looked to Tryst and my father and they were both beginning to change into their wolf forms I watched as their bones began to shift and their limbs began to reconstruct themselves for all fours.

I turned to my right and Wyatt was snarling out as his teeth molded to fit his new face. To a normal human and some creatures this would have happened in a blink of and eye but to my eyes I saw everything.

I met my father's eyes and he gave me a re-assuring wolf smile before they took off. Rem Mase and I stayed in our human forms and decided to just use our half wolf forms just in case the vamps needed help translating anything the full wolfs were saying or doing.

The major battle was a bit off to the side so we were safe for now, I took off the bag I had at my side and hung it on a low tree branch so Tryst Ralph and Wyatt would be able to find some clothes when they decided to change back.

"Are you done?" Mase asked I looked to him and nodded my head. There was a loud cracking noise as a close tree fell near us, the cause was a a vampire and one of those mutants tackeling each other. The battle was even closer now so we had to be more cautious.

"MASE LOOK OUT!"Rem screamed as a tree toppled on him. Rem got to him first and was trying to haul the tree off of him. A few feet off I noticed a figure who was kneeling by a cracked tree stump, he had a smile on his face as he marveled at his work, the figure stood and his face was revealed in a stream of sunlight.

Lian looked wild, His teeth gleamed in the sunlight as he stared deviantly at me, he slowly started to turn around and walk deeper into the woods. I quickly ran to Mase's side and helped get the tree off of him. "Are you ok" I asked looking up trying to not loose sight of Lian.

"Yea I'll be fine..." He groaned and clutched his side, I heard slight cracking noises as his bones were being repaired. "Stay with him" I told Rem, She nodded then followed my eyes to the disappearing figure.

"What are you going to do?" She asked

"Get even, it's the least I can do for Love" I looked at her and her eyes held fear in them "Be careful" she gripped my hand then let go to help Mase. Before I left I looked to the battle and saw a horrible looking creature that had different characteristics of many of the creatures around me, the one that I noticed the most was it's muzzle, it was that of a wolf.

I chased after Lian into the darker parts of the woods away from the noise of war, and to make things more dramatic there was a thick layer of fog that was swirling around the ground, we must be close to a swamp or something.

I lost sight of Lian and spun around in a couple circles looking for him. "Where are you?" I yelled "Here" His voice was right behind me but when I spun around there was nobody there, this went on for a few more spins. "Quit playing games and show yourself" I yelled out

I heard him chuckle behind me but before I could turn to look I was smashed into the closet tree and held there. "You think this is a game" He quietly said then laughed again "This is war" He shouted in my ear I flinched at the sudden noise and tried pushing away from the tree, he only pressed harder and I could hear the bark splintering on the tree.

"Why are you doing this, Helping Dr.Dartan, WHY?" The anger was rising in my voice, He sighed "Now I suppose you want me to explain myself, why I joined him, why I killed Lovella, Why I attacked you, you would love to know the answers wouldn't you" He said toying with me

I growled and shoved myself away from the tree again turning around, he regained control and pushed me back into place. "Why did you kill Lovella?" I looked him in the eyes. He looked at me with his bloodlust stare. "She got in my way" he said

"In your way...?" I couldn't believe what he just said "Of helping Dr. D bring that creature into existance, her for that."

"She was expendable" he looked away and I found an opening I lashed out at him with my nails and temporarily freed myself. He snarled and grabbed his face where he was bleeding. The cuts started to repair but with these ones they left some nasty scars.

"If I would have known that you were expendable back at Valkyrie's house, trust me you wouldn't be here either." His eyes held murderous intentions

"What do you mean expendable?" I asked confused "It means I didn't nessecarily need to get your blood to begin with, if I would have known that things would have been so much easier." He was talking mostly to himself

My face gave away my confusion He looked at me with a slight puzzled look then began to laugh evily once he put the pieces together.

"You never knew did you?" He laughed again "Your boyfriends been lying to you for a pretty long time then, or maybe your just that stupid" he started saying

"What are you talking about?" I freaked out. "I'm talking about Tryst being an alpha" He said calmly. I started shaking my head and he let out a loud sigh then rolled his sleeve up to reveal four long scars, "I got those when he attacked me outside of Valkyrie's house, he's been keeping it from everybody, but I bet your father knew" Lian said

I got side tracked when I started remembering little hints here and there that I should have noticed sooner, when I looked back up Lian was gone. "Let's play a guessing game Rayna" I heard his voice but It came from everywhere. "I'm going to guess that Tryst has no idea where you are, am I right?" He asked menacingly

I kept myself composed but he must have seen through it because his laughter echoed all around me. "Ok now I have a question for you..." His voice disappeared and I strained my ears to try and pick up any sound of him.

"Are you ready to die?" Like always he was right behind me whispering in my ear, I whipped around, ready to slash his face again but he caught my wrist with one hand and grabbed a hold of my hair with his other hand pulling my head to one side. I cringed as he sunk his many razor sharp teeth into my shoulder cracking my collar bone, the pain was almost unbearable.

I was able to get a hold of his head and rip his mouth away from my shoulder. I fell over backwards as he pushed me away, my shoulder was a bloody mess and in places I could see the ragged ends of my bone sticking out.

Lian was down on his knees, his eyes seemed to be rolling in the back of his head, he was truly going off the deep end. A deep rummbling sound was coming from his throat and when he opened his eyes they were purely black.

The last thing I remember was him lunging for me, I even remember his body hitting mine and driving me further back but right after that I completely blacked out, I was probobly dead right now or on the fringe of being dead... but ooooooooo what is that it's so pretty I want to follow it.

"Hey, she's waking up" a female shouted out, It was Rem's voice. My eyeslids felt extremely heavy but I managed to open them. I was still in the forest but in the lighter parts where the war once was... it's over. I sat up, too fast my head started spinning but Tryst caught me before I could fall back down. I looked around, there were bodies everywhere, but the war was over.

I looked around and everyone was there, all of the wolves, the dartans, Valkyrie and Nathan, in the distance there were surviving vampires walking around looking for survivors and helping the wounded.

I looked at Valkyrie. "It's over" I stated the obvious. She smiled "Yea, we won, but you missed the ending you were unconcious for it" she told me. I looked down at my shoulder and it was now fully repaired. "What happened in the woods, after I blacked out" I looked to Tryst for the answer.

He was silent. "Lian had you pinned to the ground getting ready to attack you again" My dad said I turned towards him "What happened to Lian?" I asked "Is he dead?"

Ralph shook his head "No, he got away along with Oni, the creature killed Dr.Dartan, then some of the vampires took it out, that was the victory for us, but I'm afraid it's not over, not yet" he explained.

I caught onto what he was saying then drifted into a calmer state when I realized that the danger was gone for now.

Tryst was still quiet and I was getting a bit worried. "Try-" I was about to ask him a question but was cut off by his lips crushing against mine then he pulled away. "I'm sorry Rayna, I...I just..." he fell silent again.

"Sorry for what?" I asked "For not telling you about what I am, for keeping you in the dark, I just didn't want you to feel that you had an easy way out, and I understand if you hate me now" He looked away.

"You lied to me..." I paused and pulled his face close to mine. "Thank-you" before he could think I kissed him, he completely forgot about asking any questions and kissed me back.

On our way back to Valkyrie's house my dad explained why they had to keep so much from me, I began to understand now and he said that we'll talk about it later in greater detail.

I strolled up to Valkyrie's side and walked next to her and Nathan.

"Oni and Lian are still alive, which means there is still an obvious threat, but I have a feeling not for a whle, so what's next?" I asked.

Valkyrie seemed to think about this then she looked at Nathan and smiled then looked at me and continued walking, I don't think she was going to answer me just yet.

I fell back to Trysts side and he grabbed my hand. "So what do you think is next, cus Vakyrie obviously has no idea" I raised my voice a bit.

he smiled at me "I think I know just as much as Valkyrie does on that subject so for now we'll just have to wait and see." I smiled back then looked ahead and the large house was coming into view, the sun was gleaming through the trees creating beautiful silhouettes on the side of the house... they were perdy.

Valkyrie's POV~

It has been a week since the war was over and now it was the day of my Coronation. I was becoming queen of the Ourea clan. The clan my father had ruled since he was my age. 200 years my parents had ruled this clan. My mind was frantically racing as it though of everything that I had to remember when I was named queen. Nathan was the only one who was able to keep me from losing me mind with worry. Even he though couldn't keep me completely calm.

Quickly I showered and then ran to my closet where I found the black dress with a silver embroidery of the Ourea crest over my heart. I left my hair down not wanting to fuss with it.

"If I didn't know any better I'd say you were an angel." Nathan smiled from the doorway.

"Yea an angel from hell." I told him. I walked over to my dresser and opened the jewelry box that was on top of it. Carefully lifting my necklace out of the mahogany box. Nathan crossed the room until he was behind me, gently he took the necklace out of my hands and clasped it around my neck.

"Thank you." I murmured. He kissed me on the cheek and whispered into my ear.

"You will make a wonderful queen." We headed downstairs where everyone was waiting Rayna smile at me and I smiled back. Great another thing I had to remember.

"Hey there is a part in the ceremony where you guys might want to leave." I started to tell everyone. "At the end my people have to swear loyalty to me by offering their blood. I wasn't sure if you all would be offended by that so I won't be offended if you leave. " I continued.

"Um yea I'll be leaving during that." Kynaree chipped, in a slightly weak voice. I smiled at her, poor little Faerie with the weak stomach, and then my parents came out. They ceremony was to be held in our backyard seeing as how we couldn't exactly draw attention to ourselves. It would have been cool if we could've had a big ceremony somewhere else though.

"It's time." My mother said. I took a deep breath and started to head outside. Out in the field there was the whole Ourea clan which consisted of 549 vampires, we don't like to discuss what happened to 550 even though it had only been a week since the incident. In our eyes he no longer existed. All 549 vampires turned to look in my direction as my parents and I came into view. We made our way to the front and as they went down on their knees in respect I saw them stiffen from the scent of Rayna's pack. I rolled my eyes, they were going to have to get used to it.

As we walked past they stood up again and by the time we were up at the front everyone was standing again. There was silence as we all waited for my parents to begin.

"Today we are here to appoint the new queen of the Ourea clan. Today marks the era of a new reign. For the past few months we had been in a war and it has taken my daughter's quick thinking to get us out of it. We lost many warriors but in the end we fought them off and defeated our enemy." My father began in a confident and clear voice. There was a moment of silence for our brave fallen warriors before he began to speak again. He turned to me and then continued. "Valkyrie Rose Ourea do you swear to rule this clan under a fair, just, and understanding hand?"

"I, Valkyrie Rose Ourea swear to rule this clan under a fair, just, and understanding hand." I repeated after him. I was surprised that my voice wasn't shaking but I knew if I dwell on that fact that my nerves would start up again and everyone would see how nervous I really was.

"And do you swear to protect this clan and lead it into battle even if it is at the cost of your own life?"

"I do." Well doesn't that just make this job seem peachy. I thought sarcastically to myself but took the oath nonetheless.

"Then I now pronounce you Valkyrie Rose Ourea queen of the Ourea clan." My father smiled at me while the crowd erupted into respectful claps. My father kissed me on the forehead and my mother embraced me in her arms telling me how proud she was. As was tradition they placed a silver embedded diamond crown on my head. We never usually wore it but when we were crowned we were literally crowned. The only time I had seen my father wear his was when we were going to the royal court when a huge ceremony like this was being held.

With the crown placed upon my head I turned back to my people. "As the sun starts to set it is the end of a human day and the beginning of a vampire's morning. Today I begin my reign. A week ago we faced a war and a major betrayal. With Oni still out there all our families are at risk of being attacked by him and starting another war. We will find him and prosecute him." I started.

"Also we were only able to win this war by excepting help from our old enemies, today I create an alliance with both the wolves and the Dartans." After I finished saying that I could already hear some protests.

"Silence! If you break this alliance I swear the punishment will be great. Also this alliance is just between us and Rayna's pack if someone not from her attacks you, you have permission to attack them back." My voice was harsh as everyone quieted down. "Kynaree, Trudie, Theo, Cecil, Rayna, Tryst, Wyatt, Rem, Ralph and Mase you might want to leave now." I told them. I saw the group of them leave and then first vampire came up to me.

They female vampire's hair was long so she flipped her hair back and bared her throat to me. I sunk my fangs into her neck and sweet bliss took over me. After the last vampire gave their blood to me I felt relieved that everything was over. I screamed out as a sharp pain filled my head. Nathan rushed over to me and caught me before I collapsed. As he held me up I thought I heard him say something.

"What?" I asked him. "What did you say?"

"I didn't say anything Valkyrie." he answered me confused.

"I could've sworn you said something." I said bewildered. My parents came over then with relaxed expressions on their faces. They didn't seem worried at all.

"Do you know what just happened?" I asked them. Why was I even asking them of course they knew.

"When a royal is finally crowned their royal blood finally fully matures and gives that royal special abilities. Like hearing more than just human's thoughts and also the power of compulsion which is where if the vampire looks someone in the eye for a long enough period of time you will be able to control that persons actions." My mother explained.

"Okay that one will come in handy." I smiled. Thankfully there was a party going on inside to help me get my mind off everything and I wasn't about to miss it. Dragging Nathan by the arm I ran into the house, and was suddenly hit by to many different voices in my head. I staggered slightly back but regained my composure and made my way through the crowd of people.

It was the beginning of the end of the beginning.

~Oni's POV~

I watched through the trees as Valkyrie was crowned queen. I glared at the lot of them. They were all traitors and I will have my revenge.
